During the day, I like to have some SPF on my face, even if it's just a little because I get freckles easily. I use the Hydra Life Pro-Youth Protective Creme SPF 15 all over my face and then the HydrAction Visible Defense Eye Creme SPF 20 under my eyes (I'm sad to say this is discontinued but I will probably just use the eye cream w/o spf in its place when this runs out). I have noticed a slightly new formulation in the day cream -- it used to be more thick and now it's more creamy -- but nonetheless, I still love it. I've noticed that when I use the eye cream, my concealer applies more smoothy and is less likely to get cakey throughout the day/when I apply powder over it. During the winter months, my skin gets especially dry so I have to add even more moisture -- I use a bit of the Hydra Life Youth Essential Concentrated Sorbet Essence Serum in the morning and at night, before applying the moisturizer -- this helps lock it all in and keeps your skin hydrated throughout the day and night. During the warmer months, I do not use the serum during the day because the oils in my skin keep it from drying out.
Night
I use the Hydra Life Pro-Youth Sorbet Creme all over my face and then the Hydra Life Pro-Youth Sorbet Eye Cream under my eyes. I have dark circles under my eyes and they never go away, which is why I have to use eye creams to reduce puffyness and purple/redness. I love using the serum before bed because I wake up still feeling moisturized and hydrated. I hate it when I wake up and my skin is dry and tight -- it's just very unpleasant.
Pros
Another reason why I love using this skincare line is because it is formulated without: parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, synthetic dyes, petrochemicals, pthalates, GMOs, and triclosan. It's gentle on the skin and does not have a harsh perfumey scent (which irritates my nose).
Cons
The only con I can think of is the price. It is on the pricey side -- moisturizers + serum $56 each, eye creams $49 each -- but you are paying for what you get. Your skin is left feeling very soft and hydrated, it is formulated without harsh & harmful ingredients, and the products are packaged luxuriously in glass containers.
Comparisons/Alternatives
I've recently tried a sample of the Benefit Total Moisture Facial Cream because it reminded me a lot of the Hydra Life moisturizers -- the color, packaging, consistency, and similar claims about hydration and radiance. However, I did not like this moisturizer at all. It has a strong perfume scent (which I was willing to forego if this product actually worked for my skin) but the ultimate no no was that it broke me out (I had small bumps under my skin around my chin and lower part of my face). As soon as I stopped using this product and went back to my normal routine, the bumps went away.
Another moisturizer & eye cream that I like (and more affordable) is the Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief ($37) and Clinique All About Eyes Rich ($30). The moisturizer is VERY hydrating -- your skin looks wet after using this. I recommend bringing this moisturizer when you're traveling to dry/desert climate areas. The eye cream is okay -- it leaves a stinging feeling which I do not like (but I know some others who do like that sensation) and I didn't notice any reduction in puffyness or redness.
I hope everyone is keeping their skin hydrated during these chilly winter days and let me know what kinds of moisturizers work for you!
