Mani Monday >> Sephora by OPI Dear Diary + MAC Soiree

This is my first mani post of the year! I love Sephora OPI's Dear Diary nail polish and decided to do a mani with this color featuring the MAC Nail Lacquer Soiree.

The pale pink of the Dear Diary and the rose gold of Soiree keeps this look neutral and perfect for winter. I tend not to wear bright colors during winter because I reserve those daring shades for spring/summer.

Sephora by OPI Dear Diary + Essie Ballet Slippers (Alternative)

Dear Diary is the perfect pale pink -- it is more on the coral side and thus, more warm toned than your average cool pink tones. The pale pink also elongates your fingers and makes it appear more slender (great for those with small hands or short fingers). Since Sephora is discontinuing the Sephora by OPI colors, I've decided to include Essie Ballet Slippers here as well as an alternative -- this is the closest shade to Dear Diary that I could find. You can find some Sephora by OPI shades on Amazon and eBay but I recently purchased mine from Hautelook, so there are still ways to get this discontinued shade. Dear Diary requires several coats for an opaque finish (3-4) and Ballet Slippers requires several coats as well (2-3). Therefore, the only cons about these pretty pinks is that it takes longer to dry with the multiple coats -- I personally hate waiting and it makes applying anything else on top more difficult. It was difficult to apply the Soiree on top of the Dear Diary because it was smearing all over the place. It applies on smoothly and doesn't chip easily once completely dried.

MAC Nail Lacquer Soiree

I love this nail polish! It applies on so smoothly, no streaks at all. It dries relatively fast and it was already pretty opaque with just one coat! I applied two coats just to be safe. It has so much dimension and shine with really tiny sparkles/glitters. I would describe this color as metallic pale gold/copper -- but it has a somewhat rose gold shade in certain lights. After using this nail polish, it makes me want to try more colors from MAC.
