Mani Monday >> Red and Gold Chinese New Year's Nails Tutorial

We're right in the midst of the Year of the Horse and I wanted to do another nail tutorial -- very similar to the other tutorial but mixing up colors and finishes. The cherry blossom design tutorial (with more detailed pictures) can be found here. Hope you enjoy!

What You Need
-Nail File
-Base Coat
-Red Polish
-Fine Gold Glitter Polish
-Black Nail Art Polish with Skinny Brush Tip
-White Polish
-Lime Green Polish
-Nail Dotting Tool
-Piece of Cardboard with Glossy Side
-Top Coat

Directions
1. Prep your nails by filing down to your desired shape.
2. Apply one layer of base coat then let dry (I'm using the Essie Grow Stronger base coat).
3. Apply two coats of a red polish to all your nails except the index finger (I'm using CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant in Lasting Love 180).
3. Apply two coats of a fine glitter gold polish to your index finger (I'm using Sephora Hello Kitty Liquid Nail Art in Gold Star).
4. Using a black nail polish (specifically for nail art), draw some branches on your middle finger nail. Keep the base of the branch thicker than the tip of the branch.
5. Place a few drops of the white, green, & gold nail polish on the glossy side of a piece of cardboard. Dip a nail dotting tool into the white polish (I'm using the Rimmel French White Tip Pro) and create five-petaled flowers on the branches. Tip -- dip your tool into the white polish after every 2 petals.
6. Using the nail dotting tool and a lime green nail polish (I'm using one from Nature Republic), dot some leaves on the branches and around the flowers.
7. Using the nail dotting tool and the gold nail polish, place some tiny dots in the center of the flowers.
8. Finish off all the nails with your favorite top coat (I'm using Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat).
